Denza, a premium new energy vehicle brand of BYD, today officially launched its new Denza Z9 GT. The refreshed model, available in five variants, is priced between 269,800 yuan (39,100 USD) and 369,800 (53,600 USD), and introduces a single-motor rear-wheel-drive option.

The new Denza Z9 GT boasts a maximum CLTC pure electric range of 1,036 km, making it the longest-range pure electric vehicle globally.

Key highlights of the new Denza Z9 GT:

  • Refreshed exterior design: The Z9 GT features a revitalised front fascia with sharper lines. The signature elongated headlights remain, complemented by an optimised front bumper and the addition of a new LiDAR sensor for advanced driver-assistance systems. The side profile maintains its sleek lines, now updated with new wheel designs and hidden door handles. The fastback rear is accentuated by elongated taillights and a reinforced sporty bumper, topped with a dynamic rear spoiler.

  • Optimized interior: Inside, the Z9GT receives some upgrades. These include a new column shifter, a redesigned steering wheel, and dynamic ambient lighting. The cabin maintains a three-screen layout, with a large floating central control screen. A new “Lava Red” interior option is available, featuring sporty integrated seats, a carbon fibre interior package, a three-spoke sports steering wheel, and a one-touch Boost racing paddle. New air vent designs, a premium metal column shifter, diamond quilting, and exclusive badging are provided.

  • Enhanced powertrain options: The new Denza Z9 GT introduces a single-motor variant delivering a maximum power output of 370 kW (496 hp). The high-performance triple-motor version sees a power upgrade, with individual motors rated at 230 kW (308 hp), 310 kW (416 hp), and 310 kW (416 hp), propelling the vehicle from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.7 seconds.
  • Blade Battery 2.0 and charging technology: Powering the Z9 GT is Denza’s second-generation Blade Battery. This allows for a quick charge in just 5 minutes and a full charge in 9 minutes. Beyond the 1,036 km pure electric range (CLTC), a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) version is also available, offering a CLTC pure electric range of up to 401 km.

Editor’s comment

The Z9 GT, with its 1036km range, is already the world’s longest-range pure electric vehicle. However, its impressive range isn’t the most remarkable feature. What’s even more extraordinary is that, thanks to Blade Battery 2.0, its battery can be charged from 10% to 97% in a mere 9 minutes and 8 seconds. When asked why it charges to 97% instead of 100%, BYD CEO Wang Chuanfu quipped, “You always need to leave a little room for regenerative braking!”
