Xpeng Motors officially launched the G6 EREV today, marking the first EREV variant in the G6 coupe SUV lineup. Priced at 186,800 yuan (27,080 USD), the new model targets China’s rapidly expanding extended-range SUV segment. The launch includes limited-time incentives valued up to 33,200 yuan (4,810 USD) for orders placed by March 31, 2026, including purchase subsidies and trade-in credits.

Market Context

Xpeng delivered 15,256 vehicles in February 2026, a 49.9% decrease from the 30,453 units delivered in February 2025. The introduction of the G6 EREV follows a broader industry shift toward range-extended powertrains to mitigate BEV seasonal fluctuations. For comparison, Li Auto delivered 26,421 vehicles in February 2026, a 0.6% year-on-year increase. The G6 EREV enters the market with one of the largest battery packs in its price class to compete with high-volume rivals like the Li Auto L6 and the Deepal S07.

Powertrain & Architecture

The G6 range-extender utilises a 1.5T gasoline engine supplied by Dong’an Power (model DAM15NTE) as the dedicated generator. The engine produces 110 kW of net power and does not mechanically drive the wheels. Propulsion is provided by a 218 kW electric motor paired with a 55.8 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack and a 60-litre fuel tank.

The vehicle is built on an 800V high-voltage architecture and supports 5C fast-charging. Xpeng states the battery can add 314 km of range in 12 minutes under ideal conditions. Performance data includes:

  • 430 km CLTC pure electric range
  • 1,704 km CLTC combined range
  • 13.9 kWh/100 km electricity consumption

The EREV variant retains the coupe-style fastback silhouette of the pure electric version, measuring 4,771 mm in length, 1,920 mm in width, and 1,650 mm in height.

Intelligent System & Chassis

The model features Xpeng’s second-generation VLA (Vision-Language-Action) AI, delivering 2,250 TOPS of effective computing power. Active safety capabilities include AEB braking and AES emergency steering support at speeds up to 130 km/h, alongside high-speed tire-blowout stability control up to 180 km/h. The chassis uses front double-wishbone and rear five-link independent suspension equipped with adaptive DCC dampers and the “Taiji” hydraulic bushing system.

Market Positioning

With a combined range of 1,704 km and an 800-volt architecture, the G6 EREV is positioned to capture market share below the 200,000 yuan (29,000 USD) threshold. Xpeng’s transition into EREVs followed significant sales pressure in early 2026, during which the brand fell behind major NEV startup peers in monthly volume.
