Great Wall Motors‘ Wey officially unveiled its new large SUV model, the Wey V9X, on March 9th. The vehicle is the first model built on the company’s GWM One platform and features an advanced 2.0T plug-in hybrid system with electric ranges of 240km and 363km according to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology filing info.

The Wey V9X introduces a fresh design language with a closed front grille complemented by a star-ring through-type light strip that connects to the headlight assemblies, creating a broader visual perspective. The light strip supports a flowing welcome effect, working in harmony with an illuminated brand logo. A LiDAR is mounted at the top of the front end, suggesting the vehicle will be equipped with advanced driver assistance systems. The front bumper features an active closing intake grille with blue driving assistant lights and turn signals integrated into both sides of the lower bumper.

From the side profile, the V9X employs dual waistlines that visually elongate the vehicle. Notably, the vehicle features a two-tone body colour scheme and traditional door handles paired with intricate spoke wheels. At the rear, through-type taillights with oval designs incorporate the same blue driving assistant lights seen at the front.

Inside, a narrow full LCD instrument panel is complemented by a large floating centre control screen and an equally sized entertainment screen for the front passenger. The air conditioning vents adopt a through-type style, working with the wraparound cabin design.

The rear passenger area features a 2+2+2 six-seat configuration with second-row seats offering a reclining mode. Foldable entertainment screens for second-row passengers enhance comfort. Ambient lighting has been added to the edges of these folding screens. The vehicle provides wireless phone charging in both the front and second rows.

Dimensionally, the new vehicle measures 5299/2025/1825mm (length/width/height) with a wheelbase of 3150mm. Power comes from a 2.0T engine as part of the plug-in hybrid system, with the engine producing a maximum power of 175 kilowatts. The V9X achieves a top speed of 210km/h and impressive acceleration times of 4.4 seconds from 0-100km/h in full electric mode and 4.7 seconds in hybrid mode. The vehicle is expected to be based on an 800V hybrid architecture equipped with 6C hybrid batteries, enabling pure electric ranges exceeding 400km and the ability to gain 200km of range from 5 minutes of charging.
