Chery’s Exeed EX7 electric SUV revealed with 3-meter wheelbase and 230 kW motor
China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has published regulatory filing images of the upcoming Exeed EX7, a mid-to-large electric SUV from Chery’s premium Exeed brand. The filing confirms key specifications for the single-motor battery electric version ahead of launch, according to Autohome.
Technical overview
According to MIIT data, the Exeed EX7 measures 4,988 mm in length, 1,975 mm in width, and 1,710 mm (or 1,702 mm depending on the configuration) in height, with a 3,000 mm wheelbase. The vehicle is configured as a five-seat SUV with a curb weight of 2,230 kg and a maximum permitted mass of 2,660 kg.
Power is provided by a single electric motor rated at 230 kW, supplied by United Automotive Electronic Systems. The filing lists a top speed of 200 km/h. The battery pack uses lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) cells supplied by CATL, though capacity and driving range figures were not disclosed in the regulatory documentation.
Several wheel and tyre combinations are listed, including 255/55 R19, 255/50 R20, and 265/45 R21. Track width is 1,690 mm at the front and 1,695 mm at the rear, while approach and departure angles range between 18 and 21 degrees, depending on configuration.
Exterior images submitted with the filing show a simplified front design with a full-width daytime running light strip and vertically stacked split headlights. At the rear, the vehicle adopts a full-width taillight design and a crossover-style bumper.
Product context
The Exeed EX7 previously appeared in regulatory filings under the ET7 name before being officially renamed EX7. The model forms part of Exeed’s expanding electrified lineup, positioned above Chery’s mainstream passenger-car range.
Interior images released earlier show a wide integrated display spanning the centre and passenger side, a floating digital instrument cluster, and a panoramic roof. The vehicle is expected to use Chery’s E0X high-voltage architecture, developed for battery-electric and range-extended powertrains.
A dual-motor all-wheel-drive version is also expected to join the lineup later, expanding the EX7 range beyond the single-motor configuration listed in the MIIT filing.
Market positioning
The EX7 targets China’s large new-energy SUV segment, where domestic brands have rapidly expanded their offerings, focusing on technology-heavy interiors and long-range electric powertrains. Direct rivals in this category include the Li Auto L7 and the Nio ES6.
Earlier this month, the company confirmed that the EX7 has entered early mass production. CarNewsChina previously reported that the model will introduce electric mechanical braking (EMB), replacing traditional hydraulic systems with electrically actuated units, while a dual-motor all-wheel-drive version is expected to deliver up to 353 kW combined output and a CLTC-rated range of up to 726 km depending on battery configuration.
Outlook
The MIIT filing confirms the first publicly documented specifications for the Exeed EX7 battery-electric SUV ahead of market launch. With a nearly five-meter body length and a 3,000 mm wheelbase, the model positions Exeed in the increasingly competitive premium electric SUV category.
As domestic automakers expand their presence in larger EV segments, vehicles such as the EX7 illustrate how Chinese brands are pairing conventional SUV proportions with high-voltage electric platforms and supplier ecosystems built around companies like CATL.
