Dongfeng’s Voyah Debuts Taishan X8 SUV with latest Huawei HarmonyOS, 800V PHEV and EV trims
Dongfeng’s Voyah has debuted the all-new Taishan X8, a large five-seater SUV with EV and Plug-in hybrid (PHEV) trims, the latter offering up to 310 km of EV range. The Taishan X8 will be the first vehicle to feature the latest iteration of Huawei’s HarmonyOS ecosystem, which includes a dual 15.6-inch 2K infotainment screen.
The Taishan X8 is the fourth SUV in Voyah’s lineup, and it is the second model under Voyah’s Taishan series, the first model simply named Taishan. The X8 is positioned below it, although both models share similar styling cues and overall themes, with the Taishan’s large chrome grille, wheels, and accents largely absent on the X8.
This model measures 5200 mm in length, 2025 mm in width, 1814 mm in height, and a 3090 mm wheelbase, and it is slightly smaller in size compared with the flagship Taishan. Voyah’s previous announcements focused on the two available power trims and optional configurations, while this debut stresses Huawei’s involvement with the Taishan X8’s interior.

Voyah announced that the Taishan X8 would be the launch vehicle for the newest generation of Huawei’s HarmonyOS cockpit ecosystem, as well as the first vehicle to feature a dual-screen 2K 15.6-inch infotainment layout. Both screens are capable of a maximum brightness of 1000 nit and can operate independently or in tandem. While Voyah has published illustrations of the dual-screen system, it has not yet published details or allowed access to the Taishan X8’s interior.
Voyah has confirmed the Taishan X8 will feature an 800V platform and 5C fast-charging, and it will be offered in EV and PHEV trims. The PHEV trim can be optioned with a large 65 kWh battery. It is expected that this will be a ternary lithium pack supplied by CATL, in line with the flagship Taishan. The previously unannounced EV trim will be available with a maximum battery capacity of 120 kWh, and this would make Taishan X8 the brand’s largest pure EV SUV on sale.

Order books for the Taishan X8 are expected to open in the upper half of 2026. Alongside the Taishan, the Courage (Zhiyin) and Free+, the Taishan X8 will compete in China’s intense new-energy SUV market. While pricing has not yet been announced, it will likely be situated below the Taishan’s range of 379,900 to 509,900 yuan (55,200 – 74,000 USD), and the Taishan X8 will have to carve out a slice of the “8-series” SUV market against rivals like the BYD Bao 8, Zeekr’s 8X, and Huawei‘s own Aito M8.

One item of note is the Taishan X8’s potential name for foreign markets. Voyah’s website lists the model as the “Titan X8” in the URL, and the “Titan” namesake may be used in Voyah’s global plans.
