A new flagship SUV from Great Wall Motor’s Haval brand has been revealed in spy photos, showing a boxy design, six-seat layout, and LiDAR-equipped roof, according to Autohome. The model, internally codenamed C06, is expected to launch later in 2026.
Boxy design with LiDAR integration
Spy images show the Haval C06 adopting a “boxy” SUV profile, a design direction increasingly adopted by Chinese brands to incorporate off-road styling cues. The front fascia features rectangular headlights and a semi-closed grille, while the lower bumper appears thick and upright.
A roof-mounted LiDAR unit is visible, along with cameras positioned near the front fenders, indicating support for advanced driver assistance systems. This hardware configuration aligns with current industry trends toward higher-level assisted-driving capabilities in upper-segment SUVs
Large dimensions and a six-seat layout
From the side profile, the vehicle appears substantial, with reports indicating a length exceeding 5 meters and a width of approximately 2 meters. Fixed side steps and conventional door handles are visible.
Inside, although heavily camouflaged, the front row reveals a two-spoke steering wheel and column-mounted gear selector. The seating layout is configured in a 2+2+2 layout, suggesting a focus on family-oriented usability in the large SUV segment. Seat cushions appear thick, though detailed features have not yet been disclosed.
Hi4-T plug-in hybrid system expected
The C06 is expected to use Great Wall Motor’s Hi4-T plug-in hybrid system, combining a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine with dual electric motors. The rear axle reportedly includes an electric motor, supporting electrified all-wheel-drive capability.
Unlike traditional body-on-frame off-road SUVs, the model adopts a unibody structure, indicating a positioning that balances on-road dynamics with off-road styling rather than targeting extreme terrain use.
Positioning within Haval’s SUV lineup
The C06 is expected to serve as the flagship model in Haval’s expanding SUV portfolio. Its design and size place it above the brand’s existing electrified offerings.
As a reference point, CarNewsChina previously reported that the Haval Raptor lineup expanded with a larger variant offering up to seven seats, reflecting Great Wall Motor’s push into larger electrified SUVs. The visual similarity between the spied C06 and the Raptor family suggests a continuation of this design direction.
Separately, the Raptor PHEV drew attention in 2025 for adding an “aquatic mode,” highlighting ongoing experimentation within GWM’s off-road-oriented electrified vehicles.
Industry push toward electrified large SUVs
The emergence of the C06 reflects a broader trend among Chinese automakers toward electrified large SUVs that combine rugged styling with plug-in hybrid systems and advanced driver assistance hardware.
Further specifications, including range, performance figures, and pricing, have not yet been disclosed. More details are expected closer to the model’s planned 2026 debut.
