2026 MG4 unveiled ahead of Beijing Auto Show debut
SAIC‘s 2026 MG4 has made its official debut on April 15, which is scheduled to launch at the upcoming Beijing Auto Show.
Exterior design
The 2026 MG4 maintains the brand’s signature design language while introducing notable updates. The front fascia features sleek, dynamic headlights paired with a segmented front lip and a black lower bumper. A small blue indicator light has been added to intuitively display the driver assistance status.
The side profile adopts the floating roof design and new 17-inch wheel rims. At the rear, the vehicle continues the previous generation’s design language with through-type taillights, a subtle spoiler and a matching rear bumper.

Interior and technology
Inside, the 2026 MG4 introduces new colour options, including Yacht Blue and Midnight Purple, complemented by music-synced ambient lighting and hidden air vents. The cabin features an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster and a 15.6-inch 2.5K central touchscreen.
The integration of the Doubao 3.0 AI model enables users to complete information queries and vehicle control through natural conversation. The system features four-zone independent voice recognition, allowing simultaneous responses to commands from different seating positions. It can automatically control the sunroof, air conditioning, and entertainment systems. Oppo smartphone-vehicle connectivity enables seamless app integration.
Comfort features include front seats with 8-point massage, ventilation, heating, and a front passenger seat with a 4-way electric leg rest. The rear seat cushion measures 571mm in length.

Intelligent driving assistance
The 2026 MG4 is equipped with Horizon Robotics’ L2+ intelligent driving solution. The system delivers stable, efficient, and safe highway NOA (Navigation on Autopilot) functionality, including automatic highway overtaking, lane keeping, and turn-signal lane changes.
New parking features include automatic front-entry parking, DIY parking mode, parking speed adjustment, dead-end road parking, low-speed parking spot detection, and smartphone-vehicle parking visualisation.
Powertrain options
The new MG4 offers both pure electric and liquid-solid-state battery variants. The pure electric version features a motor with a maximum power output of 120kW (161hp) and peak torque of 250 Nm. Battery options include 42.8 kWh and 53.9 kWh packs, delivering CLTC range of 437km and 530km respectively. The liquid-solid-state battery version starts with a range of 510km.
For charging, the 2026 MG4 supports 3C fast charging, requiring 18 minutes to charge from 30% to 80%. The vehicle also features DP-EPS dual-pinion electric power steering, offering quicker response compared to traditional column-type steering systems.

When the current MG4 was launched last September, it received 26,000 orders within 15 days. Since its release, this model has sold over 10,000 units every month in China, with the sole exception of February this year due to the Lunar New Year holiday.
