Volkswagen launches ID. Unyx 08 starting from 33,300 USD, first mass-produced model from VW-Xpeng collaboration
Volkswagen Anhui officially launched its all-new pure electric SUV, the ID. Unyx 08, on April 16. The vehicle, developed in collaboration with Xpeng, marks the first mass-produced model from the partnership and comes in three variants with prices ranging from 229,900 yuan to 289,900 yuan (33,300 USD to 42,000 USD). This model started pre-sales on March 26th at 34,760 USD.

Exterior and dimensions
The ID. Unyx 08 features Volkswagen’s new design language with Chinese aesthetic elements. A gold trim strip runs along the central axis, converging at the gold Volkswagen badge on the front. The front fascia houses over 400 individually controllable LED light clusters supporting customizable interactive lighting effects.

Interior and technology
The cabin features a wrap-around design with a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and dual 14.96-inch 2.4K displays powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon SA8295P chip. The AI intelligent assistant integrates capabilities from Z.AI and Baidu’s Wenxin large language model.
The five-seat layout offers 766L of trunk space, expanding to 1,845L with rear seats folded. Front seats support 12-way electric adjustment with 10-point pneumatic massage, ventilation, and heating functions.
Intelligent driving
The ID. Unyx 08 is equipped with Volkswagen’s advanced driver assistance system, utilising a VLA end-to-end model for enhanced L2-level city NOA (Navigation on Autopilot). The system is supported by:
- 11 cameras
- 3 millimetre-wave radars
- 12 ultrasonic radars
- Dual AI Turing chips with 1,500 TOPS computing power
Powertrain and battery
Built on an 800V platform, the ID. Unyx 08 offers single-motor RWD and dual-motor AWD configurations:

The 95 kWh battery supports 315 kW peak DC fast charging, adding 150km of range in 5 minutes, with 10%-80% charging taking approximately 20 minutes.
Chassis
The ID. Unyx 08 features optional dual-chamber air suspension with DCC adaptive chassis control and AI “magic carpet” preview function. The air suspension offers up to 100mm of height adjustment.

Volkswagen remains a major player in the Chinese market, with monthly sales exceeding 100,000 units, though most of these are internal combustion engine vehicles.
