Hongqi Tiangong 05/06 launched: 800V EVs with 10%→80% charge in 12 minutes, starts 23,900 USD
FAW’s Hongqi brand has launched updated 800V fast-charging versions of its Tiangong 05 sedan and Tiangong 06 SUV, priced from 171,800 yuan (23,900 USD) and 191,800 yuan (26,700 USD), respectively, according to Autohome.
Narrowing cost gap
Both models adopt an 800V high-voltage architecture, enabling charging from 10% to 80% in 12 minutes. This places them among a growing group of China-market EVs bringing ultra-fast charging into the sub-200,000 yuan segment, where competition has intensified in 2026.
The Tiangong 05 offers a CLTC-rated range of up to 650 km, while the Tiangong 06 SUV delivers up to 610 km. Both models also support external discharge at 6 kW.

Product updates
The update introduces a new “Yunmeng Silver” exterior colour, expanding the lineup to seven body colour options. The Tiangong 05 retains its fastback sedan design with a drag coefficient of 0.213 Cd, while the Tiangong 06 continues as a midsize SUV with a closed front grille and hidden door handles.
Inside, both vehicles feature a 15.6-inch central display, AI-based voice interaction, and multi-zone voice recognition. The Tiangong 06 adds features such as a 14-speaker Dynaudio sound system, AR-HUD, and enhanced intelligent driving functions, including combined highway and urban assist.
Platform direction
The introduction of 800V systems aligns with Hongqi’s broader electrification roadmap. Previous disclosures indicate that the brand is advancing next-generation battery technologies, including solid-state batteries targeted for production vehicles around 2027, alongside ongoing prototype testing of higher-energy-density packs.
Industry push
China’s EV market has seen rapid adoption of 800V architectures over the past year, with multiple automakers deploying fast-charging systems to reduce charging times closer to refuelling benchmarks. Hongqi’s move positions the Tiangong series within this broader transition, particularly as the brand expands its new-energy lineup.
Separately, Hongqi is preparing additional electrified products, including an extended-range off-road SUV (P567) scheduled for debut at the 2026 Beijing Auto Show.
Data context
According to China EV DataTracker, Hongqi recorded domestic sales of 24,594 vehicles in March 2026, up 29.4% month-on-month but down 25.4% year-on-year, with a 1.5% market share. This follows 19,003 units in February (-29.6% YoY) and 31,638 units in January (-22.3% YoY), indicating continued year-on-year pressure despite short-term recovery in monthly volumes.
