Chery’s Exeed EX7 launched with electronic‑mechanical braking and 1,520 km range, from 29,300 USD
Chery launched the Exeed EX7 in China on April 19, priced from 199,900 to 263,900 yuan (29,200 to 38,600 USD), with early trade-in pricing starting at 194,900 yuan (28,500 USD), according to Y-Auto.
The large five-seat SUV arrives with battery-electric and range-extended variants, becoming the first production model to use the aviation-grade electronic mechanical braking (EMB) system previewed in the model’s March mass-production reveal and detailed again ahead of launch in early April.

Electronic mechanical braking enters production
The EX7’s headline feature remains its brake-by-wire electronic mechanical braking setup, available on four-wheel-drive versions, which replaces conventional hydraulic architecture with independently controlled wheel-braking motors. Chery claims a 90 ms response time, a braking distance in the 33-meter class, and a 2.5% efficiency benefit through optimised energy recovery, figures previously outlined during pre-launch disclosures and now carried over to the production model.
Dual-power strategy
The EREV lineup includes a 1.5-litre range extender paired with up to 377 kW in dual-motor all-wheel-drive form. Updated Chinese launch data indicates rear-wheel-drive versions offer 245 km CLTC battery range and 1,520 km combined range, while AWD versions provide 225 km CLTC electric range and 1,300 km combined range. That exceeds earlier 182–203 km figures published before launch, suggesting Chery finalised higher-spec configurations for production.
Battery-electric versions ride on an 800V platform with up to 726 km CLTC range, while DC fast charging from 5% to 80% is quoted at 11.5 minutes.
Tech-heavy cabin
The EX7 includes a 30-inch 6K display, a Qualcomm 8295P chipset, a 23-speaker audio system, Falcon 700-assisted driving with 27 sensors, Nvidia Orin-Y compute, plus air suspension and CDC dampers. Chery also says a semi-solid-state battery upgrade is planned for later this year, though no production timeline has been confirmed.
Market context
The EX7 enters China’s crowded 200,000-300,000 yuan (29,200-43,600 USD) electrified SUV segment, where dual-powertrain strategies are increasingly common. Its combination of EREV and BEV options may help Exeed broaden its reach as the brand looks to stabilise volumes.
Exeed sold 6,377 vehicles in China in Q1 2026, down 47.7% year-on-year and 46.7% versus Q4 2025, according to data from China EV DataTracker, with a market share of 0.2%. That makes the EX7 a significant launch for a brand seeking momentum after declining quarterly sales.
