At the 2026 Beijing Auto Show, which opened today, BYD‘s Fang Cheng Bao unveiled three new models. Marking a departure from its traditional SUV lineup, the brand introduced its first-ever sedan models, including the sporty S-series and the headline-grabbing Formula X. In 2024, Fang Cheng Bao revealed plans regarding the X product.

The Formula X, a two-door convertible supercar, served as the highlight of the event. The model inherits the design philosophy of the Fang Cheng Bao Super 9 concept, featuring the brand’s “Life Metal Aesthetics.” The vehicle boasts a golden ratio silhouette with a “hunting leopard” stance.

Visually, the Formula X adopts a “Sharp Leopard Eye” headlight design. The body sits exceptionally low to the ground, featuring extensive aerodynamic kits with 19 distinct air vents. The rear end is characterised by “Infinite Ring” taillights, an active electric rear spoiler, and hollowed-out diffusers positioned behind the rear wheels.

A key technical highlight is the introduction of a full carbon fibre body, which reduces weight. The vehicle also features dramatic door designs, described in releases as both gull-wing and scissor configurations.

Inside, the Formula X offers a “battle cockpit” experience with a wrap-around design layout. The interior employs a bold grey and green colour scheme. Driver-centric features include mechanical physical buttons, a retractable steering wheel, integrated sports seats, and a four-point racing harness. Fang Cheng Bao announced that the new model is scheduled for mass production and market launch next year.

In addition to the supercar, the brand officially released the Fang Cheng Bao S-series sedan, further diversifying its product portfolio.
