Arcfox, a sub-brand of the Beijing Automotive Group (BAIC), has announced the start of pre-sales for its Wendao V9 MPV at the ongoing 2026 Beijing Auto Show. The Wendao V9, the brand and BAIC’s first luxury MPV, is a large seven-seater extended-range EV (EREV) MPV, and prices range from 219,900 to 286,900 yuan (322,200 to 42,000 USD).

Arcfox also claims to have received over 8,000 firm orders within 48 hours, and prospective buyers must deposit 5,000 yuan (approximately 730 USD) to reserve a Wendao V9.

Styling & Interior

Arcfox adopts a conservative design for the Wendao V9, featuring a large front grille, chrome accents, and dual-tone paint. Externally, the MPV closely resembles domestic rivals like BYD‘s Denza D9 and GWM‘s Wey G9.

The interior’s styling is similarly constrained as well, utilising a 2+2+3 seating layout and implementing a tech-minimalist design for the cabin space. The front row gets a 15.6-inch infotainment screen, but like any luxury MPV, emphasis is placed on the comfort of the second row.

These passengers will get to enjoy reclining, ventilated, and heated seats, equipped with leg rests and 16-point massaging. Refreshments are handled by a fridge in the centre console, and flip-down tray tables mounted on the back of the front seats. A ceiling-mounted display drops down to provide infotainment, too.

Powertrain & Performance

The MPV’s lineup consists of four trims, with the main differentiator being the battery pack’s chemistry and capacity. Lower trims receive a 37 kWh LFP pack, with a CLTC range of 216 km, while higher trims get a 53.4 kWh ternary NMC pack, boosting CLTC range to 315 km. Both pack variants are supplied by CATL, and while all trims are built on a 400V platform, Arcfox claims that a 10 – 80% charge will only take 15 minutes.

Up front, the Wendao V9 gets a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder range extender, which cranks out 118 kW (158 hp). It’s paired with a Huawei-supplied motor at the rear, which is rated for 227 kW (304 hp). The Wendao V9 is only available with rear wheel drive (RWD).

All trims have a rated top speed of 190 km/h. The lower-spec LFP trims, which have a CLTC fuel consumption of 6.85 L/100km, do the 0 – 100 km/h sprint in 7.9 seconds. The higher-spec NMC trims, with a CLTC consumption of 6.88 L/100km, are slightly slower and accelerate to 100 km/h in 8.4 seconds.

Chassis & Measurements

Curb weight is between 2525 and 2580 kg, and the MPV measures 5300 mm in length, 1980 mm in width, 1850 mm in height, with a 3200 mm wheelbase. Arcfox claims the Wendao V9 has an integrated rollcage, which enhances chassis rigidity and safety.

Chassis-wise, Arcfox has given it all-aluminium front double wishbones and rear multi-link suspension, with the top trim receiving magnetorheological adaptive suspension. The firm claims damping can be altered up to 1000 times per second, 20 to 30 times faster than conventional systems.

More on Arcfox and the Wendao V9

Arcfox is BAIC’s new-energy vehicle (NEV) sub-brand, and its lineup consists of three sedans, three SUVs, and two MPVs. The Wendao V9, Arcfox’s third MPV, will be its first luxury MPV, and the brand’s largest and priciest vehicle to date.

According to China EV DataTracker, Arcfox delivered 15,307 units domestically in March 2026. Sales received a significant boost in the final months of 2025, coinciding with the partial phase-out of NEV subsidies. January and February’s slump can be attributed to China’s Spring Festival celebrations, with sales recovering to 10,000+ levels in March.

Arcfox has a robust and affordable NEV lineup of sedans, crossovers, and MPVs, and the brand has clear ambitions to go upmarket. Time will tell whether Arcfox and BAIC can succeed with the Wendao V9, and draw buyers away from its rivals like BYD‘s Denza D9, GWM‘s Wey G9, or GAC‘s E9. May the best luxury MPV with a “9” in its name win.
