On March 18, BYD announced that its new pure electric SUV, the Sealion 05 EV, will be officially launched on March 25 in China with the slogan “New Platform Intelligent Navigation”, equipped with the automaker’s “God’s Eye” C intelligent driving system (DiPilot 100).
It was revealed that the withholding price is 115,000 – 135,000 yuan (15,900 – 18,700 USD), which is the amount that dealers pay when ordering the cars from the manufacturer and any excess difference will be refunded after the official price is announced, according to Chinese social media Sohu. In particular, the BYD Sealion 05 EV will be offered in four exterior paints: Warm Sun White, Muchuan Green, Sea White, and Jun Kiln Gray; as well as two interior styles: Starry Sky Black and Sea Salt Gray.
Positioned as a compact SUV, the BYD Sealion 05 EV measures 4520 mm long, 1860 mm wide, 1630 mm tall, and has a wheelbase of 2720 mm. The curb weights are 1670 kg and 1780 kg. In comparison, the dimensions of the 2025 Sealion 05 DM-i are 4726 mm long, 1880 mm wide, 1720 mm tall, and a wheelbase of 2712 mm.
A front trunk is also provided.
Furthermore, the “God’s Eye” C entry-level intelligent driving system is supported by a three-camera cluster behind the windshield.
Inside, the cockpit features a flat-bottom steering wheel, an instrument panel that is integrated into the dashboard, and a 15.6-inch rotatable central control screen, powered by BYD’s DiLink 100 system. The air-conditioning outlets are oriented vertically and located on both sides of the central touch screen. Additionally, 50W wireless charging for mobile phones and a refrigerator are onboard the vehicle.
Power comes from a rear permanent magnet synchronous motor: model TZ200XSAY or TZ200XSBE, which can output a maximum power of 140 kW (188 hp) or 160 kW (215 hp), respectively, according to the declaration information by the Chinese MIIT. The top speed is 180 km/h. This is matched with BYD Blade lithium iron phosphate battery packs with capacities of 50.048 kWh and 60.928 kWh, which correspond to a cruising range of 430 km and 520 km, respectively.
