Just days after launching its flagship SUV, BYD’s luxury sub-brand Denza has introduced the Denza N9 Black Warrior Edition. In China, this special edition is priced identically to the standard N9, ranging from 389,800 to 449,800 yuan (approximately 54,000 to 62,000 USD).
As its name suggests, the Black Warrior Edition features an all-black gloss finish, including blacked-out wheels that replace the standard model’s silver alloys. This gives the SUV a more aggressive and commanding presence.
Being Denza’s flagship SUV, the N9 boasts top-tier performance and technology. It is powered by BYD’s e3 three-motor system, consisting of a front AC asynchronous electric motor producing 200 kW (268 hp) and two rear permanent magnet synchronous motors generating 240 kW each. These electric motors are complemented by a turbocharged 2.0-liter petrol engine outputting 152 kW (204 hp). The entire system is paired with a 46.9 kWh Blade battery pack, delivering a combined power output of 680 kW (925 hp). This enables the Denza N9 to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds.
The Denza N9 offers a CLTC-rated pure electric range of 202 km, while the combination of its battery and petrol engine extends the total range to an impressive 1,302 km. It supports 100 kW DC fast charging, allowing it to charge from 30% to 80% in just 19 minutes.
The Denza N9 comes equipped with BYD’s “God’s Eye” B (DiPilot 300) ADAS system, which includes a 128-line LiDAR, five millimeter-wave radars, 12 ultrasonic radars, and 14 cameras. This suite of advanced driver-assistance systems enhances safety and situational awareness on the road.
Developed on BYD’s e-Platform 3.0, the Denza N9 measures 5258/2030/1830 mm, with a 3125 mm wheelbase. For reference, that puts the Denza N9 even larger than SUVs like the Lexus LX (5115/1990/1895 mm, wheelbase 2850 mm).
As part of BYD’s aggressive push overseas, Denza will be launching in Europe starting April 2025.
