On April 4th, we were invited to attend the media test drive event for the Zeekr 007 GT in Ningbo. This pure electric wagon marks the second wagon model released by Zeekr, a strong player in the EV industry. Zeekr was a premium electric brand under Geely, one of the biggest automakers in China, positioned to compete directly with Nio ET5 Touring.

Exterior design

Compared to its sister sedan model, Zeekr 007. Zeekr 007 GT’s wagon design style provides more storage spaces and a stronger sense of sportiness. The clamshell hood design also enhances the front end’s luxurious elements.

The Zeekr 007 GT has dimensions of 4864/1900/1445 mm and a wheelbase of 2925 mm. Key design highlights include the 21° Shooting Line, which gives the wagon a sleek and dynamic profile. The car also has a 69° fastback-style tailgate and a massive 90-inch integrated smart light panel similar to the Zeekr 007.

Performance

The rear-wheel-drive variant has a single motor delivering up to 310 kW, while the dual-motor all-wheel-drive version boasts a peak output of 475 kW and 710 N·m of torque. It accelerates from 0 to 100km/h in just 2.95 seconds, and brakes from 100 km/h to zero in 34.2m.

The Zeekr 007 GT is equipped with a double-wishbone front and five-link rear suspension, paired with air suspension and a CCD electromagnetic damping system. It offers a maximum ground clearance of 162 mm, an approach angle of 15.9°, and a departure angle of 20°.

Two battery options are available: a 75 kWh second-generation “Golden Brick” battery offering up to 650 km of CLTC range, and a 100 kWh Qilin battery capable of delivering up to 825 km (CLTC).

Test drive experience

The driving experience of the Zeekr 007 GT is impressively smooth. The suspension feels noticeably softer compared to the Tesla Model Y, which our editor uses as a daily commuter. However, once switched to performance mode, the car sharpens up—the steering becomes more responsive, and the suspension stiffens slightly, delivering a more dynamic and sporty handling feel.

We tested the rear-wheel-drive single-motor version over approximately 40 minutes, covering a mix of city roads and highways. The average energy consumption displayed on the central screen was 15.6 kWh/100 km. Road noise is impressively low, giving the cabin a serene, almost “floating ship” sensation while cruising at high speeds. The power kicks in instantly when you step on the accelerator—even in the less powerful single-motor version we tested, the response felt quick and confident.

The intelligent driving system is also intuitive to operate. In Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) mode, adjusting the distance between you and the vehicle ahead is straightforward—an essential feature for maintaining a comfortable highway cruising experience.

That said, the system still has some quirks. At one point, while waiting at a traffic stop in the middle lane, the car unexpectedly began to turn across a solid line in an attempt to make a left turn, despite another vehicle being behind us. This behavior could pose a potential safety risk and shows that further system refinement is still needed.

We also tested the 007 GT’s automated parking feature, which proved to be both intuitive and efficient. The system can complete a parking maneuver within seconds, accurately positioning the vehicle with equal spacing on both sides. In fact, the precision is impressive, matching or even surpassing what an experienced human driver could achieve.

Overall, we believe that the Zeekr 007 GT is a highly competitive offering in the premium EV wagon segment. It stands strong against wagon rivals like the NIO et5t or even larger crossovers like the Tesla Model Y. Its exterior design aligns well with our aesthetic preferences, and the technical specifications are impressive given its price point. In fact, the editor would seriously consider trading in his Model Y for the 007 GT.

According to reports, the Zeekr 007 GT will soon launch in Europe under the name 7 GT.
