On April 17, the Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance (HIMA)’s Luxeed brand officially launched two new trims for its R7 EREV lineup:

  • Max: 299,800 yuan ( USD)
  • Ultra: 319,800 yuan ( USD)

Luxeed is a joint venture between Huawei and Chery as part of HIMA.

As a new trim, the new Luxeed R7 EREV has been upgraded in terms of configuration and intelligence, including Huawei’s Qiankun ADS realized via a 192-line roof lidar, three millimeter-wave radars, 12 ultrasonic radars, and 11 cameras. Highway and city navigation on autopilot as well as parking assistance are supported.

The appearance also remains largely unchanged with dimensions of 4956/1981/1634 mm, a wheelbase of 2950 mm, and a drag coefficient of 0.247Cd. A sports package is available as optional for the entire series including a rear diffuser and a rear wing.

Built based on the Huawei Tuling platform, front double wishbone, rear multi-link independent suspension, and continuous variable damping are standard. Additionally, the new car is said to be equipped with Huawei’s “intelligent silent” EREV technology, which supports intelligent control of the engine speed and torque based on the road conditions, reducing the start-stop engine vibration amplitude by 90%, according to the official.

Both the Max and Ultra are powered by a 1.5T four-cylinder engine as the range extender and have a 67L fuel tank. With Huawei’s Giant Whale 400V platform, both trims take 15 minutes to recharge from 20% to 80%.
