Denza, the mid-tier luxury brand under BYD, unveiled its concept sports car, the Denza Z, at the Shanghai International Auto Show. Denza Z is a four-seater coupe equipped with BYD’s latest technologies, which are expected to be introduced on other Denza models in the future. Also, the model is expected to compete with the Porsche 911.

For exteriors, the Denza Z has a low and sporty stance. It has a bold front lip and sharp headlights, giving it an energetic look. The overall design feels sleek and dynamic, and both hardtop and convertible versions will be offered.

As a two-door coupe, the Denza Z has a compact body dimension. The cabin narrows from the B-pillar, creating a muscular shape over the rear wheels. It also comes with frameless windows, hidden door handles, and a large wheel size.

Unlike traditional ICE sports cars, the Denza Z features a steer-by-wire system powered by advanced AI algorithms, according to its marketing speak. This system delivers a smoother, more refined handling experience on regular roads, while still ensuring precise and responsive steering on the track. Additionally, the Denza Z is equipped with a foldable steering wheel, which is said to increase safety by creating extra space during collisions and adding a futuristic touch to the driving experience, according to Denza during the event.

In addition, the Denza Z will be equipped with the Disus-M system—an upgraded version of the current Disus-Z. Disus-M is an intelligent magnetorheological body control system capable of making real-time adjustments based on road conditions, with suspension responses occurring in under 10 milliseconds. According to Denza, this technology provides enhanced stability and support during high-speed cornering on tracks. The Disus M system will also be available on other upcoming Denza and BYD models.

While the full specifications and pricing details have yet to be released, the Denza Z is expected to be priced above 300,000 yuan (42,000 USD). In addition, BYD’s recently released 30,511 rpm motor has already been placed on the BYD Han L and Tang L models, so its appearance on the Denza Z comes as no surprise.
