Geely Galaxy is preparing to expand its electrified lineup with a brand-new sedan following the recent launch of the Galaxy Starshine 8. Spy photos of the heavily camouflaged model have surfaced online. According to sources, the new model is expected to feature Geely’s advanced Thor Super Hybrid (EM) technology and will officially debut later this year.
The new sedan showcases several design details. It adopts the Galaxy family’s latest design language, featuring a full-width LED light bar up front, replacing the split headlamp design on the E8 and Starshine 8. Sporty air intake elements on both sides of the front bumper and what appears to be an active grille shutter suggest a focus on aerodynamics and energy efficiency.
From the side, the sedan exhibits a clean, straight shoulder line, traditional mechanical door handles, and multi-spoke wheels. A black housing behind the front fender may indicate the presence of side-view cameras. Notably, the test vehicle carries decals reading “2L-class fuel consumption when the battery is low” and “2100+ km combined range,” strongly suggesting the use of the Thor Super Hybrid system.
At the rear, the sedan features a wide taillight bar with a new lighting signature, distinct from the Galaxy E8. The rear bumper remains fully camouflaged, and no visible exhaust pipes suggest a hidden layout typical of plug-in hybrids. Judging by the vehicle’s proportions, the sedan likely approaches 5 meters long.
While official technical details remain undisclosed, comparisons can be drawn to the recently launched Galaxy Starshine 8, which offers two hybrid systems: the EM-i and EM-P. The EM-i system pairs a 1.5L engine with an electric motor to deliver up to 257 kW of system power and a CLTC electric-only range of up to 130 km. Meanwhile, the EM-P version uses a 1.5 turbocharged engine, delivering up to 280 kW and 605 Nm combined, also offering a 130 km electric range. These setups hint at what might power the upcoming sedan.
Geely Auto Group CEO Gan Jiayue, who spoke at the company’s Q1 2025 financial briefing, said Geely Galaxy will introduce four new energy vehicles this year. The new sedan, launching in the year’s second half, is expected to become one of the brand’s dual-flagship sedans alongside the Starshine 8. The brand currently operates under a dual-network strategy (A-network and Star-network), and this new model is likely aligned with the A-network, emphasising intelligent features and digital integration.
