Recently, the entry-level version of BYD’s Han L DM-p sedan without a roof lidar was revealed by the Chinese MIIT. The Han L series currently on sale is offered in EV and PHEV variants. Specifically, the PHEV has a price range of 209,800 – 259,800 yuan (29,100 – 36,000 USD), available in FWD and AWD with a pure electric range of 200 km and 180 km, respectively.

Positioned as a medium-to-large sedan, the new car is consistent with the current model in appearance and size, with a length, width, and height of 5050/1960/1505 mm, respectively, and a wheelbase of 2970 mm. The curb weight is 2,235 kg. In the front, the “Loong Face” is retained, along with the “Chinese knot” taillight in the rear. The new car still runs on 245/45 R19 tires. Most notably, as an entry-level model, the roof-mounted lidar has been cancelled as the standard, and is expected to come with BYD’s “God’s Eye C” pure vision advanced driving assistance system.

However, consumers do have the option to add back the roof lidar as well as the cameras on the front windshield and front fenders. For reference, the current model is equipped with the “God’s Eye” B advanced driving assistance system. Other optional configurations include a sunroof, rim designs, and tail logo designs.

Furthermore, the new car is still powered by BYD’s 5th-generation DM hybrid technology consisting of a 1.5T engine, a front permanent magnet synchronous motor (model TZ210XYD), and a rear permanent magnet synchronous motors (model TZ200XSAE), paired with Blade lithium iron phosphate battery pack. The maximum power and peak torque of the engine is 115 kW (154 hp) and 225 Nm; the maximum power of the front and rear motors is 200 kW (268 hp) each. The acceleration time from 0 to 100 km/h is 3.9 seconds and the top speed is 200 km/h. The Blade battery pack has a capacity of 29.5 kWh, providing a pure electric range 145 km (assuming CLTC conditions).
