The Chinese hard-core off-road SUV market will soon have another contestant, namely, the Jetour Zongheng G700, as it applied for a sales license. The new car is expected to compete directly against the BYD Yangwang U8. Zongheng is a new off-road series under Jetour.

The Zongheng G700 adopts the traditional square box shape for an off-road vehicle with a rear external spare tire and measures 5198/2050/1956 mm with a 2870 mm wheelbase. The maximum ground clearance is 320 mm. Four curb weights were declared: 3063 kg, 3094 kg, 3176 kg, and 3180 kg, with a standard approach and departure angle of 30° and 25°, respectively. The maximum towing capacity is 2500 kg.

Power comes from Chery’s Kunpeng super-performance electric hybrid CDM-O system with a total power of 560 kW (751 hp) and a torque of 795 Nm. The “O” stands for off-road, meaning the system is focused on off-road vehicles, consisting of dual electric motors and a 2.0T engine (model SQRH4J20) with a maximum power of 155 kW (208 hp), a peak torque of 340 Nm, a thermal efficiency of 45.5%, and a fuel consumption of 1.39 L per 100 km, mated to a 2-speed DHT. The 0 – 100 km/h acceleration time is 4.6 seconds. Both intelligent all-terrain mode and low-speed four-wheel drive are supported.

Furthermore, the 4C Shenxing (LFP) battery is supplied by CATL and takes 10 minutes to recharge from 20% to 80%. The comprehensive range is 1,400 km. Chery also revealed that a BEV variant with four electric motors will be launched at a later date.

Other optional configurations include rim shapes, cameras, radar colors, exterior mirror shapes, front face shapes, fender shapes, side and rear privacy glass, spare tire covers, sunroof, and trailer connectors.

Additionally, the official claimed the Zongheng G700 is “amphibious” – able to wade through water for 40 minutes with a maximum speed of 4.5 knots and drive on land. The cabin is resistant to a water pressure of 20 kPa and a water flow of 5 meters per second.

Inside, a large area of the interior is covered in leather or suede material, combined with metal and rivet decorations to further enhance the off-road atmosphere. The car can seat five or six people as the standard, depending on the trims.

The long rectangular instrument panel is located at the end of the dashboard while the 15.6-inch floating central control screen is right above the center console, which comes with two cupholders, 50W wireless charging, physical buttons, and a rotary knob.
