Xpeng is preparing to launch its all-new electric P7 sedan, with spy shots and regulatory disclosures revealing extensive design, technology, and performance upgrades from its predecessor. The new model—expected to go on sale later this year—features a bold redesign, Xpeng’s latest AI driving system, and a maximum CLTC-rated range of up to 820 km.

The interior adopts Xpeng’s latest design language, highlighted by a new flat-bottom multifunction steering wheel and a large floating central display. Dual wireless phone chargers are integrated into the front console, while front-row passengers benefit from sporty, integrated bucket seats. The gear selector has also shifted to a steering column-mounted design.

French designer Rafik Ferrag has overhauled the exterior styling. The updated P7 features a more angular design compared to the current P7i, with a sleeker coupe-like silhouette, hidden door handles, frameless windows, and a fastback profile. The front fascia retains XPeng’s signature full-width LED daytime running light but introduces sharper headlight elements and a more aggressive bumper design. The rear end mirrors the front with a continuous taillight bar and adds a retractable spoiler for improved aerodynamics.

The vehicle measures 5,017 mm in length, 1,970 mm in width, and 1,427 mm in height, with a 3,008 mm wheelbase. Compared to the current P7i, the updated model is longer and wider but slightly lower. It will be offered with 20-inch or 21-inch wheels, with the option of mismatched front and rear tyres (“staggered fitment”) for better performance.

Powertrain options include single-motor rear-wheel drive and dual-motor all-wheel drive setups. The rear-wheel-drive variant has a 270 kW motor and will offer two battery packs: a 74.9 kWh pack and a larger 92.2 kWh pack. Depending on the configuration, the CLTC range figures span 625 km to 820 km. The dual-motor setup pairs a 167 kW front motor with a 270 kW rear motor.

One of the standout features of the new P7 is the integration of Xpeng’s in-house developed Turing AI chip, as used in the new Xpeng G7. The vehicle adopts a pure vision-based advanced driver assistance system (ADAS), supporting urban and highway Navigation Guided Pilot (NGP) functions—Xpeng’s answer to Tesla’s Navigate on Autopilot.

Xpeng will continue offering a variant with the brand’s signature scissor-style front doors—referred to as the “Peng Wing” edition. This version will allow buyers to customise carbon fibre-textured side skirts, fender trim, and mirror caps. The “Peng Wing” version also features a unique rear glass treatment and specialised body kits likely designed for marketing or media purposes.

The refreshed P7 is set to compete with other premium electric sedans in the Chinese market, such as the Xiaomi SU7 (starting at 215,900 yuan / approx. 29,700 USD). Pricing for the updated Xpeng P7 has not yet been announced, but it is expected to remain in a similar range to the outgoing P7i, which starts from 199,900 yuan (approx. 27,500 USD).

Further details, including official launch timelines and final trim specifications, will be revealed in the coming months.
