Chery presented the Fulwin A9L sedan at the Fulwin A9L Global Launch Event, held on July 8 at the Beijing Capital International Convention Centre. The event was part of the company’s broader unveiling of the Fulwin brand update. According to a Chery executive, the vehicle received 50,287 firm orders within the first 24 hours of its launch.

The Fulwin A9L, an international model from Chery, is built on Chery’s hybrid E-platform and offered in four configurations. Official prices range from 149,900 to 207,900 yuan (approximately 20,435 to 28,375 USD), with a limited-time trade-in price starting at 139,900 yuan (approximately 19,075 USD). Chery executives reiterated that the Fulwin A9L was developed to meet global safety, design, and technology standards, referencing the company’s long-term international strategy, which we first reported on June 14, which includes IPO-funded R&D and expansion into overseas markets.

The Fulwin A9L features a fastback silhouette with a sealed front grille, full-width LED lighting, and a two-stage active rear spoiler capable of generating up to 425 N of downforce. The design uses an eight-layer paint process and includes semi-hidden door handles with dual-mode access.

The car measures 5,018 mm in length, 1,965 mm in width, and 1,500 mm in height, with a 3,000 mm wheelbase, offering D-segment cabin space in a C-segment footprint. Chery reports a drag coefficient of 0.23Cd, contributing to improved energy efficiency.

The Lingxi Smart Cockpit 2.0, powered by Qualcomm’s 8255 automotive-grade chip, supports 40 consecutive spoken commands and “point-to-command” interactions. The Fulwin A9L also features the “Boyar Sound System,” a 1,080W setup tuned by Chery’s internal acoustic team and developed in a 10 million yuan (1.4 million USD) class audio lab.

The Fulwin A9L operates on the Kunpeng Super Hybrid CDM 6.0 system, featuring a 1.5T engine and a 33.7 kWh square-blade lithium-iron-phosphate battery. The peak system output for the dual-motor AWD version reaches 470 kW and 854 Nm, with a 0–100 km/h acceleration time in the 4-second range, according to Chery.

The vehicle offers a measured pure electric range of 260 km (CLTC) and a combined range of over 2,500 km on a full charge and tank. Fast charging from 30% to 80% takes approximately 14 minutes and 30 seconds. The platform features a front double-wishbone and rear five-link suspension, and Chery claims class-leading ride quality, enabled by Bosch’s IPB 2.0 dual-control system and AI Magnetic Suspension.

The Fulwin name dates back to 1997, when Chery launched its first sedan in Wuhu, Anhui. Relaunched in November 2023 as a new-energy sub-brand, Fulwin now offers hybrid and plug-in hybrid models, including the A8, T8, and T10.

Chery has positioned Fulwin as a standalone brand focused on hybrid vehicles. The A9L is the first global model under this new direction. Its development spanned over 700 days, with feedback from more than 5 million users; Chery states that 1,278 features were modified based on suggestions.

The company reports an investment of over 10 billion yuan (approximately 1.37 billion USD) in its hybrid platform, with suppliers including Qualcomm and Bosch contributing to the development of the A9L.
