Tesla officially launched its six-seater Model Y L in China, priced at 47,120 USD

Tesla today officially announced the launch of the Model Y L in China, with a starting price of 339,000 yuan (47,120 USD). Positioned as a large six-seater pure electric SUV, the Model Y L introduces upgrades to its exterior details and interior configuration. Deliveries for the new vehicle are expected to commence in September.

The Model Y L features several subtle changes compared to the Model Y. The vehicle’s roofline has been redesigned, and the rear spoiler has also been re-engineered for a more dynamic look. These aerodynamic enhancements result in a drag coefficient of 0.216.

In terms of dimensions, the Model Y L measures 4976mm in length, 1920mm in width, and 1668mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3040mm.

Inside, the Model Y L boasts a new 16-inch central touchscreen. The front wireless charging pad has been upgraded to support simultaneous fast charging at up to 50W and 30W. The audio system has also been redesigned, featuring a new centre console speaker and two additional top speakers. Charging ports are available for every seat in both the second and third rows.

The Model Y L is equipped with three-row airbags. The total airbag protection area spans 3.9 meters, covering over 95% of the vehicle’s longitudinal space.

The Model Y L offers a maximum expandable cargo volume of 2539L. This allows for the accommodation of two 24-inch and one 20-inch suitcase. With the third-row seats folded down, the space expands to fit four 28-inch and two 20-inch suitcases.

A dual-motor all-wheel-drive system powers the Model Y L. The front motor delivers a maximum output of 142 kW (190 hp), while the rear motor provides 198 kW (266 hp), enabling the SUV to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds. It is equipped with an 82 kWh ternary lithium battery, offering a CLTC range of 751 km and an energy consumption of 12.8 kWh/100km.

The launch of the Model Y L enters a highly competitive pure electric SUV market in China, with several similarly positioned and priced new energy vehicles vying for consumer attention. Key competitors include the already launched Li Auto i8 and Onvo L90, as well as the upcoming Aito M8 EV.

In terms of body size, the Model Y L is the smallest among all of its major competitors.
