BYD’s FCB Tai 7 PHEV with max 1,300km range launched starting at 25,200 USD

BYD’s Fang Cheng Bao (FCB) Tai 7 hardcore off-road plug-in hybrid SUV officially entered the market and started the delivery in China, available in four trims:

  • 135KM RWD Pro: 179,800 yuan (25,200 USD)
  • 200KM RWD Max: 189,800 yuan (26,600 USD)
  • 190KM AWD Max: 206,800 yuan (29,000 USD)
  • 190KM AWD Ultra: 219,800 yuan (30,800 USD)

Consumers can choose from seven exterior paints, namely, two shades of green, silver, gold, blue, black, and gray.

The FCB Tai 7 measures 4999/1995/1865 mm (l/w/h), with a wheelbase of 2920 mm, an approach angle of 24°, a departure angle of 25°, and a maximum wading depth of 600 mm.

Structurally, the FCB Tai 7 utilizes a double wishbone front and a five-link rear suspension system, BYD’s DiSus-C Intelligent Body Control System, and a TSC (Tire Stability Control) system that provides stability control in tire blowout scenarios by lifting the affected wheels to allow the other wheels to drive independently. This enables the vehicle to continue at 80 km/h for up to 30 km.

The standard seating configuration is five passengers. As for the trunk, the maximum volume can reach 1880 L after the second row is folded down, and there are up to 45 storage spaces throughout the interior.

Powertrain.

Power comes from a 1.5T plug-in hybrid system, consisting of a 1.5T engine and electric motor(s). The engine has a maximum power of 115 kW (154 hp).

  • RWD: 200 kW (268 hp) electric motor, 26.6 kWh and 35.6 kWh Blade (LFP) battery pack options, 135 km and 200 km CLTC pure electric ranges
  • AWD: has an additional 160 kW (215 hp) front electric motor, 35.6 kWh Blade battery pack, 190 km CLTC pure electric range

The official comprehensive range is 1,300 km, the fastest 0 to 100 km/h acceleration time is 4.5 seconds, and NEDC fuel consumption per 100 km is 4.9 L.

The top-of-the-line AWD is equipped with BYD’s “God’s Eye” B (DiPilot 300) advanced driving assistance system, featuring a roof lidar and Nvidia Orin-X chip. This supports more than 30 driving assistance functions including highway and city NOA and parking assistance. Additionally, this trim can be optionally equipped with BYD’s Lingyuan vehicle-mounted drone system.

Other trim are equipped with the entry-level “God’s Eye” C, which supports highway NOA and is expected to offer city NOA function in the future.

Interior color options.

Inside, the interior is offered in three colors: gray, orange, and blue.

Cockpit.

The cabin features a total of seven screens: a 15.6-inch central control screen, a 12.3-inch instrument panel, a 26-inch W-HUD, two air-conditioning control screens, and two 13-inch BYD Pads in the rear row.

Other configurations include up to 20 speakers, a 4.5 L in-vehicle refrigerator embedded in the center console with a temperature range of -6°C to 50°C, wireless charging for mobile phones, and ambient lighting.
