Leapmotor’s upcoming compact hatchback, the B05, also referred to as the Lafa 5 in the Chinese market, has entered blind pre-orders in China and is scheduled to make its official launch at the Guangzhou Auto Show in November 2025. Deliveries in China are expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2025, while a sportier B05 Ultra variant is planned to reach the market in 2026, according to Auto-home.
Spy photographs reveal that the B05’s interior largely mirrors the design of Leapmotor’s B01 sedan. A large central touchscreen dominates the dashboard, complemented by a compact digital instrument panel and a dual-spoke steering wheel. The centre console houses a wireless charging pad, while interior space is expected to be comparable to that of the B01.

On the exterior, the hatchback follows Leapmotor’s established design language with some unique elements. A full-width LED light strip connects the headlights at the front, paired with a closed grille and trapezoidal intake. Depending on trim, the model will be available with either a LiDAR-based driver assistance system or a vision-only configuration. Six body colours will be offered, including yellow, grey, blue, pink, silver, and black. The side profile incorporates frameless doors and flush-fitting handles to reduce drag, supported by 19-inch wheels. At the rear, the Lafa 5 features a continuous taillight strip and a roof-mounted spoiler. Dimensions are listed at 4,430 mm in length, 1,880 mm in width, 1,520 mm in height, with a 2,735 mm wheelbase.
The Lafa 5 is built on Leapmotor’s LEAP 3.5 modular platform, also used by the B10 crossover. While full specifications have not yet been announced, the compact hatchback is expected to align with the B10’s powertrain options. These include a base variant with a single 132 kW motor and 56.2 kWh LFP battery, and higher trims with a 160 kW motor paired with a 67.1 kWh LFP pack.
Leapmotor Senior Vice President Cao Lin confirmed that the model is part of the company’s international expansion plans. Following its global debut at IAA Mobility 2025 in Munich, the B05 is positioned to compete with compact battery-electric hatchbacks such as the Volkswagen ID.3 in Europe and other overseas markets.
