Yangwang, the high-performance brand from BYD, has announced that the Yangwang U9 Xtreme will soon be featured in Gran Turismo 7 (GT7) on the PlayStation 5, according to Auto-Home. This inclusion follows its certified lap at the Nürburgring Nordschleife of 6:59.157, marking it as the fastest production electric vehicle at the circuit, and a preceding top-speed run of 496.22 km/h at Germany’s ATP proving ground. The move adds the U9 Xtreme to GT7’s virtual lineup of high-performance vehicles.

Gran Turismo 7 is the latest major entry in the long-running simulation series developed by Polyphony Digital and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. As a modern “real driving simulator,” the game features meticulously modelled vehicles from dozens of automotive brands, high-fidelity physics, and extensive customisation.

While precise counts vary with updates, GT7 lists more than 400 cars from over 60 manufacturers at launch, with ongoing additions bringing hundreds of vehicles to the game. Performance supercars occupy a prominent place in the lineup, and the U9 Xtreme joins as one of the few Chinese entries among them.

In its physical form, the U9 Xtreme delivers 2,220 kW (nearly 3,000 hp) from a four-motor electric powertrain, each motor rated at 555 kW. It is built on a 1,200 V high-voltage platform featuring silicon carbide power electronics and an oil-cooled layout for its motors and battery.

The aerodynamic package includes a large carbon-fibre front splitter with downward-bending endplates, a gooseneck-style carbon rear wing, and bespoke 20-inch forged wheels with jointly developed GitiSport e·GTR2 Pro semi-slick tyres (China’s first rated up to 500 km/h). The body measures 4,991 mm long, 2,029 mm wide and 1,351 mm tall, with a 2,900 mm wheelbase. Production is strictly limited to 30 units worldwide.

This announcement follows the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra’s inclusion in Gran Turismo 7 in June 2025, marking the first time a Chinese car has been featured in the franchise. That collaboration between Xiaomi and Polyphony Digital introduced Chinese engineering to GT7’s global audience. The addition of the U9 Xtreme extends that presence into the supercar category, reflecting the growing visibility of Chinese performance EVs both on real tracks and within virtual motorsport.
