Spy images circulating online show what appears to be a wagon variant of the Avatr 12 undergoing road testing in China, suggesting that the joint venture between Changan, CATL, and Huawei may be preparing to expand its lineup beyond the existing sedan. The prototype appears to retain the sedan’s futuristic proportions but with an elongated roofline and extended rear overhang, hinting at a shooting brake or complete wagon design.
While Avatr has not confirmed any plans for this model, the vehicle in testing features similar exterior and interior styling to the Avatr 12. The latest Avatr 12 features Huawei’s ADS 4 intelligent driving system, supported by four LiDAR sensors, three long-range units and one high-precision solid-state LiDAR unit at the rear.
The current Avatr 12 sedan lineup is priced between 269,900 and 429,900 yuan (37,800 to 60,200 USD), covering both pure electric and extended-range variants. The range-extender version produces up to 231 kW (310 hp) and can travel more than 1,155 km combined under CLTC testing. The all-electric models offer a range of between 705 and 755 km, with outputs ranging from 237 kW (318 hp) for the single-motor setup to 402 kW (539 hp) for the dual-motor AWD version.
Inside, the sedan is equipped with a 35.4-inch 4K panoramic display and a 15.6-inch central touchscreen running Huawei’s HarmonySpace 5 system. Premium options include a “Royal Theatre Edition” trim and new colour combinations, such as Rock Brown.
If confirmed, the Avatr 12 wagon would be competing with other models in this category, including Huawei’s Stelato S9T station wagon, starting at 309,800 yuan (43,550 USD); the Zeekr 007 GT, priced from 199,900 yuan (28,100 USD); and the Audi E5 Sportback, from 235,900 yuan (33,150 USD).
Given Avatr’s collaboration with Huawei and CATL, any production version is expected to share the sedan’s intelligent driving and battery systems. The prototype remains heavily camouflaged, and details such as its powertrain or release timeline have yet to be revealed.
