IM LS9 luxury SUV lets you take a hot shower on the go, launches November 12
IM Motors’ new flagship SUV, the LS9, will officially launch in China on November 12 with limited-time pre-sale prices starting at 336,900 yuan (46,800 USD) and going up to 366,900 yuan (51,000 USD). The company opened pre-orders on November 4, and within just 30 minutes, it reported over 8,000 reservations.
Beyond its 1,508 km range, 800V hybrid platform, and high-end digital cabin, what has truly captured public attention is something far less conventional: the LS9 comes equipped with its own built-in outdoor shower.
The LS9 adopts IM’s latest design language with a closed-off front end, continuous light strip, and distinctive L-shaped headlights. The lower bumper integrates wide air intakes and dynamic vents. At the same time, the standout feature is an “Ultra-Wide Smart Projector Light,” which is claimed to illuminate up to 8,000 square meters, approximately enough to light a small stadium.
The cabin centres on a 27.1-inch 5K display complemented by a 15.6-inch passenger screen, establishing a fully digital cockpit. The model also introduces B&O audio to IM’s lineup and debuts 4D mechanical massage seats. The six-seat (2+2+2) configuration features a 21.5-inch ceiling screen for the second row, with independent seats offering ventilation, heating, and massage.
Then there’s the shower, quite literally attached to the rear of the LS9. When the tailgate is open, a compact shower tent can be hung from the hatch, drawing from a 10-litre tank that heats to 45°C within 10 minutes using a 1,200W element. It’s intended for rinsing off after outdoor activities, though with roughly one minute’s worth of water, it’s better described as a “splash and dash.”
The LS9 runs on IM’s “Stellar” extended-range system, combining a 1.5T engine and electric motors for a total output of 390 kW and 670 N·m. Two battery options, 52 kWh and 66 kWh, offer a pure electric range of up to 402 km and a combined range of 1,508 km. The 800V silicon carbide platform enables a 0–100 km/h time of around 4 seconds.
Chassis technology includes IM’s “Lynx” Digital Chassis 3.0, dual-chamber smart air suspension, and 24° four-wheel steering, which reduces the turning radius to 4.95 meters. The LS9 also features a 520-line lidar system (with a 300 m range) and an Nvidia Thor chip, enabling advanced L2-assisted driving based on L3 hardware.
