On the eve of the 2025 Auto Guangzhou, Xpeng officially launched the Extended Range Electric Vehicle (EREV) version of its X9 MPV. The new model, available in two trims, is priced at 309,800 yuan (43,400 USD) and 329,800 yuan (46,200 USD). Positioned as a 7-seater large MPV, the X9 EREV integrates a “Starship Universe” intelligent cockpit.

The X9 EREV is powered by Xpeng’s Kunpeng Super EREV system, featuring an 800V high-voltage architecture and 5C fast charging capability. It boasts a CLTC pure electric range of 452km, with a combined fuel and electric range extending 1602km.

The X9 EREV’s front fascia has undergone a radical redesign. The enlarged front bumper air intake is approximately 30% larger than the pure electric version. Flanking the intake are dual-segment three-dimensional cooling ducts, with the through-type LED daytime running lights.

The side.

A new “Aurora Green” colour has been introduced for the X9 EREV. The side profile features a floating roof design achieved by hidden A, B, C, and D pillars. The dimensions remain at 5316mm in length, 1988mm in width, and 1785mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3160mm, making it longer than the pure electric version.

The rear.

Inside, the Xpeng X9 EREV is equipped with a 17.3-inch central control screen and a 10.25-inch LCD instrument cluster, powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295P cockpit chip. The interior layout largely mirrors the pure electric version.

The cockpit.

The new vehicle also incorporates a 21-inch panoramic HUD (Head-Up Display). This HUD system supports lane-level navigation integrated with SR (Spatial Recognition) environment display.

The second row offers dual zero-gravity seats with control buttons conveniently located on the inner side of the armrests. The Xpeng X9 EREV will also feature a 21.4-inch second-row entertainment screen. The third-row seats support adjustment, backrest folding, and flip-and-stow functionality, with a 4/6 split-folding capability.

The steering wheel.

Under the hood, the Xpeng X9 EREV is powered by a range-extending system comprising a DAM15NTE 1.5T range extender and an electric motor. The engine boasts a thermal efficiency of 43.06% and a maximum power output of 110kW, while the electric motor delivers a maximum power of 210 kW (282 hp). It is equipped with a 63.3 kWh battery pack and a 60L fuel tank.

The second row.

The X9 EREV achieves a CLTC pure electric range of 452km and a combined range of 1602km, with a fuel consumption rate of 6.4L/100km. It supports 5C fast charging, adding 313km of pure electric range in 10 minutes, and charging from 10% to 80% in 11.7 minutes. Additionally, it offers 6kW V2V/V2L external power discharge capabilities.

The seat.

In terms of advanced driver-assistance systems, the Xpeng X9 EREV will be equipped with three Turing AI chips, providing an effective computing power of 2250 TOPS. Two of these chips are dedicated to empowering the VLA large model for assisted driving, while the third powers the VLM large model for the intelligent cockpit. The new vehicle utilises integrated front and rear die-casting technology, with the highest strength steel reaching 2000MPa. The vehicle’s torsional rigidity reaches 46000N·m/deg, and its high-strength cage body, combined with nine airbags.
