The Chinese automaker BYD has filed a regulatory application for a new electric sedan called BYD Qin Max. This model indicates a move toward higher performance compared with the existing BYD Qin Plus.

According to the filing, the BYD Qin Max is a pure electric sedan measuring 4866 mm in length, 1880 mm in width, and 1495 mm in height. Its wheelbase is listed at 2820 mm, which is significantly longer than the Qin Plus’s 2718 mm.

The powertrain options include a peak-output electric motor rated at 240 kW or a 120 kW motor. By comparison, the standard EV version of the Qin Plus uses a 100 kW motor.

The BYD Qin Max will offer several customisation options, including different wheel designs, a sunroof or panoramic roof, and optional badging such as “Da Qin” or “Qin Ultra.”

For background context, the existing BYD Qin Plus is offered as a fully electric sedan. The 2025 Qin Plus EV model features a 57.6 kWh battery pack and delivers a CLTC‑rated range of 510 km, with a 100 kW electric motor producing 180 N·m of torque and a top speed of 130 km/h. The car’s dimensions are 4765–4795 mm in length, 1837 mm in width, and 1515 mm in height, with a 2718 mm wheelbase. The Qin Plis EV launched in 2025 with an official retail price of 163,800 yuan (approximately USD 23,200)

Specific details regarding battery capacity, driving range, acceleration, or top speed were not disclosed in the filing. The increase to a 240 kW motor suggests that the BYD Qin Max could deliver substantially stronger performance than the Qin Plus, which currently features a 100 kW motor and a 57.6 kWh battery with a CLTC-rated range of up to 510 km.
