FAW-Audi reclaimed top spot in gasoline-powered luxury car market in China in 2025 after six years
In 2025, the FAW–Audi joint venture sold 566,988 vehicles in wholesale and 570,088 vehicles in retail sales. Notably, the automaker had a market share of 25.2% in the China-made luxury gasoline-powered vehicle market and a 26.8% share in the overall gasoline-powered luxury vehicle market (imports included), reclaiming the top spot in the segment after six years.
Last year, FAW-Audi completed its “all-domain luxury” layout with a product matrix of 42 models covering both gasoline-powered and new energy vehicles across A to D segments, according to the official.

Specifically, the Audi A6L ranked first in sales in the luxury C-segment sedan market with 172,000 units sold. The Audi Q5L achieved annual sales of 140,000 units, making it the best-selling luxury B-segment SUV in the gasoline-powered vehicle market, according to Chinese news outlet Sina Finance.
In recent years, with the rapid development of intelligent driving technology in China, traditional automakers such as Audi have been seeking collaborations with technology companies to enhance the intelligence level of their products. It was reported that Audi and Huawei had begun jointly developing a customized intelligent driving system as early as 2021.
In 2025, Audi started to deliver its collaboration results with Huawei, in which Audi vehicles are equipped with Huawei’s Qiankun ADS advanced driving system. For example, the Audi A5L Qiankun Edition was launched in November 2025 as the world’s first gasoline-powered vehicle with Huawei’s advanced driving assistance system. Then the all-new Audi Q5L also follows suit.
In the future, FAW-Audi will launch new products such as the all-new Audi A6L, Audi A6L e-tron, Audi S5 Avant, and Audi SQ8. All are expected to come with Huawei’s Qiankun ADS.
Furthermore, FAW-Audi launched a nationwide unified pricing system to eliminate regional price differences and the hassle of comparing prices across multiple stores in 2025. This direct sales model, which is commonly adopted by Chinese new energy vehicle automakers, allows consumers to interact directly with the manufacturer while maintaining the dealer network to ensure service coverage.
Currently, FAW-Audi has nearly 600 dealerships in more than 240 Chinese cities, including expansion to 28 new cities in 2025.
