GWM Cannon PHEV pickup with 2.0T hybrid power spotted in regulatory filings

Details of the upcoming Great Wall Cannon (Poer) plug-in hybrid (PHEV) model have surfaced in the latest catalog from China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT). The new variant is set to feature a 2.0T plug-in hybrid system, delivering a maximum output of 185 kilowatts (248 hp).

The exterior design of the GWM Cannon PHEV largely retains the aesthetic of the current model. It sports a large polygonal front grille, and the new model is equipped with a black matte off-road kit.

In terms of dimensions, the GWM Cannon PHEV measures 5653mm in length, 1883mm in width, and 1882mm in height. Its cargo bed boasts internal dimensions of 1760mm in length, 1520mm in width, and 540mm in height. The vehicle’s wheelbase is 3470mm.

Under the hood, the new pickup will be powered by a 2.0T plug-in hybrid system, capable of producing a maximum power of 185 kW (248 hp). Energy storage will be handled by a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery.

Options.

Prospective buyers will have a range of optional features to choose from, including front combination lights, the option to omit a front logo camera, front fog lamp decorative covers, rear window glass, different rearview mirrors, a sunroof, the choice of no roll cage, various wheel trim covers, front and rear license plate holders, and an ETC on-board device.

In 2025, GWM’s pickup trucks have seen significant growth in international markets. During the first half of the year, the company exported approximately 158,000 pickup units, representing a 30.2% increase compared to the same period in 2024. Overseas sales accounted for nearly 35% of total vehicle sales. Global sales of GWM pickups, including the Cannon, reached over 96,000 units by mid‑2025, with more than 30,000 units exported, reflecting rising overseas demand. The company operates over 1,400 distribution channels across more than 170 countries and regions, positioning the 2026 Cannon and other pickup models for further international expansion.
