Technical Overview

The 8X uses a 2.0 T engine in combination with dual- or triple‑motor electric drive. The triple‑motor variant produces up to 1030 kW and accelerates 0–100 km/h in 2.96 seconds, while the dual‑motor version achieves the same in 3.7 seconds. Battery capacity options are 55.1 kWh and 70 kWh, providing a CLTC pure-electric range of 410 km and a combined range of 1416 km. The 900 V 6C ultra‑fast charging system allows recharging from 20 % to 80 % in nine minutes.

The Zeekr 8X measures 5,100 mm long, 1,998 mm wide, and 1,780 mm tall, with a 3,069 mm wheelbase. For reference, it is 165 mm longer than the European version of the BMW X5 (G05). Depending on the configuration, curb weight exceeds 2.8 tons according to regulatory filings.

Driver assistance relies on the G‑ASD system with 43 sensors, five LiDAR units, and dual Nvidia Drive Thor‑U chips delivering 1400 TOPS. AI-based digital chassis control and adjustable driving modes are included.

Product Context

The interior supports five‑ and six‑seat layouts with adjustable seats, a rear OLED display, and a 29‑speaker Naim sound system. Trunk volume is 1133 L, expandable to 2200 L. Exterior features include split headlamps, C‑shaped daytime running lights, roof‑mounted LiDAR, and multiple colour options.

Much of the 8X’s structure and technology is inherited from the Zeekr 9X, Zeekr’s earlier full-size SUV launched at 63,910 USD, which established the brand’s plug‑in hybrid and premium SUV approach. The Zeekr 9X has become a strong domestic seller since its launch in late September 2025. According to China EV DataTracker, cumulative deliveries reached 33,532 units.

Market Positioning

The 8X enters China’s mid‑to‑large PHEV SUV market. Domestic competitors include the Aito M8 and Li Auto L8. Imported alternatives include the Lexus RX and Volvo XC90, where applicable. The 8X’s pre-sales have begun, with no official global launch timing provided.

A 30,000 km road test across China validated the 900 V hybrid system and chassis under multiple environmental conditions.

Outlook

Key points for observation include real-world driver-assist system performance, battery longevity, and adoption in the premium PHEV SUV segment. Zeekr’s next steps will clarify whether the 8X continues the brand’s high-voltage hybrid strategy and if expansion beyond domestic sales is pursued.
