GAC Aion RT Battery Swap Version to launch April 8 with 99-second quick swap capability
GAC‘s Aion RT battery swap version is scheduled to officially launch on April 8, according to information obtained from official sources. The new variant will support both conventional charging and battery swapping, with the latter enabling a full charge in 99 seconds. This model appeared in regulatory filings four months ago.
For reference, the current Aion RT lineup consists of four available models with prices ranging from 99,800 to 123,800 yuan (14,500 to 17,900 USD).
The Aion RT is positioned as a compact sedan under the brand. The front fascia adopts a closed grille design, flanked by rounded headlight clusters. Below the headlights, gloss-black L-shaped air ducts and a trapezoidal intake opening work to minimise wind resistance. The side profile embraces a coupe-style design with a fastback rear end.

The vehicle measures 4,865mm in length, 1,875mm in width, and 1,520mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,775mm.
Inside, the Aion RT comes equipped with an 8.88-inch fully digital instrument cluster and a 14.6-inch floating central control screen. The vehicle also features the ADiGO 5.0 infotainment system, offering a tablet-style desktop interface with support for multiple applications.
In terms of intelligent driving assistance, the LiDAR-equipped variant features a 126-line LiDAR sensor, with the Nvidia Orin-X chip delivering computing power of 254 TOPS.
Based on current models, the vehicle is powered by a permanent magnet synchronous drive motor. Depending on the configuration, maximum power outputs are rated at 204 hp and 224 hp respectively.
For the battery system, all current variants come standard with CATL-supplied lithium iron phosphate (LFP) 2.0 magazine-style battery packs. Depending on configuration, battery capacities are 55.1kWh and 68.1kWh, corresponding to CLTC range figures of 520km and 650km, respectively.
Editor’s comment
Among the many partners for CATL’s Choco-SEB battery swapping technology, GAC and Changan are leading the pack. GAC already has two battery-swapping models, the UT Super and Aion RT, and a battery-swapping version of the N60 is also on the way.
