Chery launches Tiggo 7L with 147 kW turbo and 2720 mm wheelbase starting 10,900 USD as Tiggo 7 refresh trails
Chery launched the Tiggo 7L and the updated Tiggo 7 on April 8, introducing a larger variant alongside a refreshed version of its compact SUV, according to IT-home. The Tiggo 7L enters the lineup after its official images were released in March, with production models closely matching the earlier preview.
Pricing and lineup positioning
The two models differ primarily in size and positioning. The Tiggo 7L is offered with a limited-time price range of 78,900 to 99,900 yuan (10,900 – 13,800 USD), while the Tiggo 7 is priced from 69,900 to 81,900 yuan (9,650 – 11,300 USD).
Within Chery’s SUV range, the Tiggo 7L sits above the Tiggo 7, adding length and equipment, while the Tiggo 7 continues as the entry model in the series.

Design and size differences
The Tiggo 7L adopts a new front-end design with a large V-shaped grille, slim headlights, and a floating roof profile. Chrome window trim and a full-width rear light bar are retained from the earlier March reveal.
Dimensionally, the Tiggo 7L measures 4655 mm in length with a 2720 mm wheelbase. The Tiggo 7 remains smaller at 4530 mm long with a 2670 mm wheelbase, maintaining its compact footprint.
Interior and in-car systems
The Tiggo 7L features a 15.6-inch central display and a 10.25-inch instrument cluster, powered by a Snapdragon 8155 chip. The system supports Apple CarPlay, Huawei HiCar, and Carlink.
The Tiggo 7 introduces a different layout, centred on a 24.6-inch curved dual-screen setup and a redesigned console with physical buttons and rotary controls.

Powertrain setup
Powertrain options also differentiate the two models. The Tiggo 7L offers a choice between a 1.5T engine rated at 115 kW and a 1.6T engine producing 147 kW, both paired with a dual-clutch transmission.
The Tiggo 7 continues with a single 1.5T engine delivering 115 kW and 230 Nm, matched with a CVT gearbox.
Safety and recent recall context
The Tiggo 7L is equipped with seven airbags and L2 driver assistance systems, including automatic emergency braking and adaptive cruise control.
Earlier in 2026, Chery recalled 1,108 units of the Tiggo 7 and related models due to a potentially unsecured ECU wiring harness that could cause engine stalling under certain conditions. The issue was addressed through inspection and repair.

Background context
The Tiggo 7L enters the lineup as a larger derivative of the Tiggo 7 family, extending Chery’s multi-variant strategy in the compact SUV segment. The model is also linked to Chery’s global product planning, where similar platforms are used across different markets.
