The Changan Nevo Q06 has been spotted in the latest catalogue released by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) of China. The Q06 is a midsize new-energy SUV available with pure EV and extended-range EV (EREV) powertrain options, and single and dual-motor rear-wheel drive (RWD). Changan and Nevo have not previously released information on this new model.

Styling

Alongside the Q05 compact SUV, the Q07 midsize SUV, and the E07 “transformer” SUV, the Q06 is Changan’s fourth SUV under the Nevo brand. Nevo is also referred to as Qiyuan in its domestic market. In terms of styling, the Q06 follows a more conventional approach in line with the Q05 and Q07, and is reminiscent of Nevo’s A06 sedan, the two models sharing highly similar front and rear fascias.

As for smaller details, the Q06 incorporates sporty touches such as a dual-tone rear bumper & splitter design, and brightly coloured brake callipers. The EV and EREV trims receive different badging on the rear. For EVs, an “E” badge is added (Q06 E), and for EREVs, a “R” badge is added (Q06 R).

The MIIT listing shows 14 wheel designs, panoramic and enclosed roof designs, dual-tone rear spoilers, rooftop LiDAR, and optional rear privacy glass, hinting at future customization options. The Q06 features semi-flush door handles like the A06 and Q05, and it is very likely that these are mechanical handles, in line with the tightened door handle safety guidelines published by the MIIT in late 2025.

Size & Powertrain

The Q06 measures 4837 mm in length, 1970 mm in width, 1670 mm in height, and a 2940 mm wheelbase. As its name suggests, the Q06’s physical size and market positioning are placed between the Q05 and Q07 SUVs, and like them, the Q06 is a 5-seater vehicle as well. Curb weight of the Q06 is 1930 kg to 2060 kg depending on trim and powertrain, and three tire sizes are on tap: 245/55R19, 245/50R20, and 245/45R21. The chassis utilizes dual wishbone suspension on the front and a 5-arm multi-link on the rear.

For EV trims, two single motor options of 210 kW (282 hp) and 225 kW (302 hp) are available on the rear axle, as well as a 165 kW + 165 kW (222 hp + 222 hp) dual-rear motor configuration, and top speed is 200 km/h to 230 km/h. Changan advertises the powertrains as part of their Taixing distributed drive system, and claims to support advanced features such as tire blowout stability control and improved traction.

The EREV trim, which has a top speed of 220 km/h, incorporates the dual-rear motor system and a 1.5 litre naturally-aspirated four cylinder range extender rated at 72 kW (97 hp). The engine, a Changan JL469Q1, is also used by the Deepal L07, the S05, the Nevo A06, and the A05 in a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) configuration.

All EV and EREV trims will use lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries provided by Volkswagen-backed Gotion High-Tech and CATL-Changan, a battery joint-venture between the automaker and CATL. EV trims will have access to an 800V platform and 6C charging, though this may be limited to higher-spec trims, as demonstrated by the A06 sedan.

The A06 and Q06’s close relationship may also indicate a potential implementation of CATL’s Naxtra sodium-ion battery, which promises better performance in extreme winter conditions. On the A06, the world’s first mass-produced sodium-ion EV passenger car, a 45 kWh pack promises an EV range of more than 400 km.

Potential Pricing & Rivals

While Changan Nevo has not announced pricing, it is expected to exceed that of the A06 sedan, which retails for 109,900 – 149,900 yuan (16,100 – 22,000 USD). For reference, the Q07 SUV retails for 129,800 – 176,800 yuan (19,000 – 25,900 USD). The Q06 is expected to aim for the 200,000 yuan new-energy midsize SUV market and compete for young buyers wishing to balance technology, sportiness, and practicality. Potential rivals include Xiaomi’s low-cost YU7 variant, the BYD Song Ultra, and the Zeekr X.
