Chery Tiggo 5 launched on the China car market
The new Chery Tiggo 5 SUV has been launched on the China car market. Price starts at 93.900 yuan and ends at 150.900 yuan. The Tiggo 5 is the largest Chery SUV to date, it is positioned above the Chery Tiggo 3. The Chery Tiggo 5 will compete in a hyper competitive market with more than 30 cars from different brands fighting for the fat Chinese wallets. Main competitors are the Haval H6 and the Haima S7.
Power comes from a 2.0 four-cylinder petrol engine with 139hp and 182nm, mated to a 5-speed manual or a CVT. Next year a 1.6 turbo and a 1.4 turbo will be added to the line-up. The 1.6 turbo will get 156hp and 210nm. The specs of the 1.4 turbo are yet unknown. The 1.6 turbo will be the top-spec engine, with the 2.0 sitting in the middle and the 1.4 turbo below.

A good looking car with a sporty touch, he Chery name is relatively strong and the Tiggo 5 is a big car for the money; so Chery will likely be able to grab a decent share of the market. The Tiggo 5 is on the roll for export as well, to East European, North African and Middle East markets.
