Kia K3 Koup will be made in China

The Kia K3 Koup, also known as Kia Forte Koup, will be made in China. Production will start next year at the Dongfeng-Yueda-Kia joint venture. The Kia K3 Koup is the coupe version of the Kia K3 sedan which is already manufactured in China by the same joint venture. The Kia K3 Koup will be powered by a 140hp 1.6 and a 200hp 1.6 turbo.

The decision makes Kia the first major auto maker to produce a coupe in China for the Chinese auto market. But the Kia K3 Koup won’t be alone very long. MG is working on an MG4 coupe , Mazda on a Mazda 3 coupe, and Volkswagen on a China-only Volkswagen Lavida coupe. Exciting times ahead…
