The new Volkswagen T-Roc has been spied in old Europe without much camouflage on. The T-Roc will have its intentional debut in August with deliveries set to start in mid 2018. Production in China will start the same year at the FAW-Volkswagen joint venture.

The T-Roc will be the first SUV for FAW-Volkswagen. The two others SUVs that are produced in China, the Tiguan L and the Teramont, are made by Shanghai-Volkswagen. Chinese dealers have long been begging for a compact SUV as the segment is booming like crazy.

The T-Roc is based on the MQB platform and shares much of its underpinnings with the Volkswagen Golf. In China the T-Roc will be available with a 110hp 1.2 turbo, a 131hp 1.4 turbo, and a 150hp 1.5 turbo, and probably with the 220hp 2.0 turbo of the China-made Golf GTI.
