Spy Shot: Volkswagen Lavida hatchback for China

The Volkswagen Lavida is a China-only medium sized sedan. The Lavida is made by the Shanghai-Volkswagen joint venture. Volkswagen is working on a Lavida hatchback which will be listed in the second half of 2012. Most important task: fight the Chevrolet Cruze hatchback which is made by the Shanghai-GM joint venture.

The Lavida will get a facelift before the hatchback arrives. The current Lavida debuted in 2008. Biggest changed are at the front that loox more in line with the rest of Volkwagen’s range. The facelifted Lavida will debut in May or June.
