The Chery Cowin 5 debuted as an ‘almost-ready-concept’ as the Shanghai Auto Show in April. Still, it takes Chery a lot of time to bring it to the market, as usual. Latest is that the Cowin 5 will be listed early next year, likely after the April 2012 Beijing Auto Show.

The Chery Cowin 5 is based on the old Chery Eastar/Oriental Sun. Cowin is Chery’s brand name for its cheapest cars. The Cowin 5 gets a 1.8 liter engine mated to a 5-speed manual or 5-speed auto. Price will start around 80.000 yuan.

New spy shots show Chery still testing the new Cowin 5.
