Party time at First Auto Works! Production of the new FAW Oley sedan started today, the Oley will be listed on the China car market on March 7. Price will range from 80.000 to 100.000 yuan. The FAW Oley debuted at the Guangzhou Auto Show in December last year, earlier this month we saw the first pics of the production version.

FAW Oley

‘Oley’ is for now the name of this car only but FAW wants to turn Oley into a brand-name in the future, for no-frills cars for little money. This first Oley will be powered by a 1.3 or a 1.6, mated to a five-speed manual or 4-speed automatic.

The platform for the Oley is based on Volkswagens PQ32 platform that underpins the Volkswagen Jetta that is still in production at the FAW-VW joint venture. FAW calls the platform PQ32+ and it will be used for other future Oley’s as well.
