The very cool Great Wall Haval E concept debuted at the Beijing Auto Show, with incredible Lambo-style doors that make it loox like an angry bat. The Haval E concept is a hybrid and previews a new crossover hatchback that will hit the Chinese car market within three years. Doors will go, wheels will be silver and power will come from decent 1.5 and 1.5 turbo patrol engines.
Still, it is good to have a quick look at the hybrid system because one day it might be used in production cars. The system is called ‘BSG Light Duty Hybrid System’. Patrol power goes to the front axle, electric power to the rear axle. Patrol power is provided by a 1.3 four-cylinder with 110kw and 22nm, mated to a 6-speed DCT. The electric motor poops out another 70kw and 270nm. Great Wall says the Haval E has a 190km/h top speed, 0-100 is gone in 8 seconds. Size: 4390/1855/1600, wheelbase is 2600. Kerb weight: 1600kg.
Steering ‘wheel’ will sadly be replaced…
