New spy shots from the upcoming Chery M16 in China. Development has taken Chery over two years, during which the M16 was restyled twice, inside and out. But the long wait might finally come to an end, the M16 will arrive in 2013, debut is expected at the Shanghai Auto Show in April next year. The M16 will also get a real name, which will be… the Chery A4.

We have heard a lot of possible engines for the M16 over the last few years. The list of possibilities is impressive, we heard: 1.6, 1.8, 1.3 supercharged and a 1.4 turbo. Chinese media now go for a 126hp 1.6 DVVT at launch and ‘possibly’ a 1.4 turbo in the further future. Transmission: 5-speed manual, 5-speed automatic or CVT. Price will start around 110.000 yuan.
