Spy Shots: stretched Skoda Yeti in the factory in China

The Skoda Yeti will be made in China by the Shanghai-Volkswagen joint venture, production will start late this year. The Chinese Yeti will be stretched by about 60mm in the middle to create more space in the back. Pictures from the body taken in the factory show the main extension is done i the passenger door. The roof is extended a bit further back because of the large panoramic sunroof.

The stretch in the frame sits a bit forward again but still under the door. The door solution is exceptional, most cars are stretched around the B-pillar and some around the C-pillar. The China-made Skoda Yeti will be available with a 1.4 TSI or a 1.8 TSI, both mated to a 6-speed manual or 6-speed DSG. The base models will be 4×2 and 4×4 will be standard on the expensive versions.
