New spy shots of the facelifted Chery A5 sedan, it will debut on the Shanghai Auto Show in April and launched on the Chinese auto market soon thereafter. The facelift included a new grille, new headlights, new bumpers, new rear lights and an updated interior.
Grille is much bigger than on the outgoing Chery E5, with much more chrome in line with the continuing chrome-trend in China. The overall design didn’t change that much but Chery managed to make the facelifted E5 a lot more like a grown-up car. An all-new Chery E5 is expected for 2014.
The facelifted Chery E5 will be powered by a new 1.6 DVVT engine with 126hp and 160nm, replacing the old 109hp 1.6. The 132hp 1.8 will continue until a replacement is ready, which will likely come in the form of a turbocharged variant of the 1.6.
