The new Maserati Ghibli sportsedan has debuted on the Shanghai Auto Show. The Ghibli is of utmost importance for Maserati for the Chinese car market where the fastest versions of the Porsche Panerama, Mercedes-Benz CLS and Audi A7, in that order, are very popular among wealthy car buyers.
The Ghibli certainly got the looks to outsell the competition, but the Maserati brand is not very strong in China. The Ghibli will be available with two engines: a twin-turbo V6 or a twin-turbo V8, both mated to an 8-speed automatic. Rear-wheel drive will be standard and a new ‘Q4’ four-wheel drive system optional. Chinese sources say the Ghibli will be launched on the Chinese car market just before the end of this year.
