Honda has applied for patent for the China car market on the Honda Brio Amaze sedan, it will be launched in China in 2014. The Brio Amaze is a subcompact sedan that is currently only made in India, it is based on the Brio hatchback that is made in India and Thailand.

Whether China will get the hatchback as well is yet unsure. The Brio is positioned below the Honda Fit. The Honda Fit is made in China by the Guangzhou-Honda joint venture. The Honda Brio is powered by a 1.2 liter four-cylinder petrol engine with 88hp, mated to a 5-speed manual or CVT. The India-made Brio Amaze is also available with a 1.5 liter diesel, but that engine won’t make it to China where diesels in passenger cars are forbidden in most cities.
