Spy Shots: Volkswagen Up! on a Truck in China
Spy shots showing a brand new Volkswagen Up! transported on a truck in the Tianjin area. Chinese media report that Volkswagen has begun testing the Up! on Chinese roads. The Up! will then likely be launched on the Chinese car market sometime next year.
The Up! will be imported, which means it will be expensive. Local production seems very necessary for a car like the Up! but Volkswagen has not made up its mind yet. As an import the Up! will be almost as expensive as a locally-made Volkswagen Polo, which starts at 85.800 yuan.
That means Volkswagen has to set the Up! up as a premium thing, which with all the high-tech on board might just as well work. More as we get it…
