Spy shots showing the production version of the BYD S7 SUV testing in China, with a very funky BYD badge on the back. The BYD S7 is a more-upmarket variant of the existing BYD S6 SUV. The BYD S7 debuted as a semi-concept on the Shanghai Auto Show in April. The production version will be launched on the China car market in early 2014.

The S7 will be powered by a new 2.0 turbo with with 207hp and 350nm, mated to a 6-speed DCT. The S6 is only available with older 2.0 and 2.4 liter engines.
Price for the S7 will start around 150.000 yuan. Price for the S6 ranges from 84.300 yuan to 129.900 yuan. The price difference is bigger than expected, and one wonders if Chinese car buyers are really going to pay that much more money for a dressed-up S6.
Work on the engine is apparently still ongoing.
Near the BYD factory that badge has almost become standard on their cars. I am assuming they are employees that have been installing them.
